The brony fandom was one hell of a ride. It's hard to believe it's been nearly 9 years or so since I stopped watching the show consistently, drawing fanart in stupid quantities and generally being a part of the fandom. I didn't really get the "bronycon" type experience since I don't think the UK had dedicated pony conventions or at the very least I did not seek them out. I didn't get to experience the horror and hilarity of pony body pillows. Watching this video truely puts the phenomenon (if you can call it that) into perspective. There was a lot of ugly shit in the fandom and I wish I had come down harder on that stuff when I saw it eg Princess Molestia online comics (fucking christ). I don't know if it was just me but I think a chunk of people moved away from the fandom after season 3 of the show. My interest slowed in the later part of season 2 before the finale of season 3 pretty much killed it. I've recently started drawing the characters again after reading some of the IDW comics and finding I'm enjoying reading them more than I enjoyed the show in it's prime

There is STILL stigma around boarding schools as a result.

Foalcon is a special kind of disgust for me. What's foalcon? Imagine Japanese fetishes where an older person is sexually attracted to a person that either looks like a child or IS a child. Foalcon is the "bronyfied" version of this concept. They took a fetish illegal in multiple countries, applied it to their fanfiction, and by slapping an unfamiliar label to it they "got away with it". Look, bronies... it's fictional CP. Foalcon is fiction about sexualizing and sexually abusing minors. It's HORRIBLE in concept, and the "foalcon" bandage needs to be ripped off that festering wound.

This show was a big part of my childhood and Appleshy is still my primary comfort ship that I sketch cute pictures of when I'm feeling down. This show had such an impact on me and I'm glad I got to watch it. The fandom got me more into art and, strangely, horror, even though the toxicity from bronies and antibronies were hurtful. Overall, I had a positive experience, which is good for my first fandom lol.

Did security for a guest of honor at a little pony con in St Louis a while back. Guest was someone that had done alternate covers on some of the comics but damn were people excited. Though, in her and the con's defense, I wasn't there for the congoers, she had an actual unrelated restraining order so I was there to stop actual IRL dangerous person if it came to it. Did learn that being just the right level of cantankerous and curmudgeonly about ponies was an extremely effective way to get on the Fandom's good side as a non-fan.

Update: thanks for having made this video and, in some fashion, to the bronies for having drawn attention to the show. I'm almost done with season 3 and I can say that I absolutely adore it! I started going to conventions in early 2000's to late 2000's, and it is nice to go to these places that have a certain energy where everyone is excited about the same thing, something probably not typically mainstream. And then the furries invade, and suddenly every comicon/animecon is also fur conadjectent. And i think that's when the creep factor starts coming in. Like artist alleys or merch room quickly turn sexualized and more R rated. And then you eventually turn 30 and quit going to conventions for the most part.

The only thing resembling Bronycon I ever attended was a theater screening of the first "Equestria Girls" movie, which was so poorly advertised that only Internet hermits would know when and where it was happening. The theater was packed with men in their 20s and 30s against a single family of two grade-school girls, who looked incredibly uncomfortable for the entire event.

I remember when I was a Brony.. I was 10 when I first saw the show in 2012 :") Of course, I was super young, I live in Argentina so.. there's no way I could go to a BronyCon, plus, since I was young I didn't really get what it was at all, so I had no need to go (I'm an asshole) Still, I had fun in this fandom, I loved how adults loved something that wasn't meant to be for them, it was amazing! One of my favourite things from the fandom was the Ask the Crusaders! Tumblr, or those Asks blogs in general and your Friendship is Witchcraft series, boy I was angry when Hasbro deleted your videos.. not only yours but MANY videos.. I think it was around 2015 when all that shit happened?? So.. yeah, IRitem was my home to watch MLP because in my country the dubs took a long time to come and they even repeated episodes, I wasn't going to get all the news six months after- so I used IRitem with subs.. but since Hasbro killed all the videos of the series I couldn't watch MLP anymore.. and I just stopped and moved on :(... I think my last season was the fourth one- I still blame Hasbro for kicking me out like that. A funny history I have with this fandom is that I made myself a DA (at freaking 10 years old, oh no xD) and I used bases for my drawings! I saw many people do it so.. why not me? WELL... everything was ok until someone told me I stole them- I didn't know too much english so I said what I could to defend myself, they were asking for credit and my dumb young self didn't know what it was.. the dude made his friends send hate to me until I just gave up and said I was 10 so they could leave me alone.. but no, they reported me and my account passed away xDD The Brony was absolute magical, I loved being part of it in the golden ages, I was really happy

at least 50% of "that" fan are really made up stories putting a encounter that the celeberity did not like in a worse light. It's not that wild, at least 50% of all celebs are assholes. Even if they seem super pleasant all the time, even at cons even at panels and more. When they are home or indeed in a green room, they will talk about how you looked at them.

@Rachel Rice I am. I quite like G1 and G4. I don't really collect, but I do enjoy the shows, and even just the idea. I like the idea of talking horses forming their own societies, it's a nice idea. It's not quite as strong as it was pre-2016, but it's alright. It's kind of stabalised. I wouldn't listen to Jenny and other large creators when they claim it's over, it's not as popular, but it's far from over. It'd be like saying the Tasmanian Devil is extinct when really it's endangered. The pony community is really quite nice, some of the nicest people I've met online I met through the pony community (mostly the /mlp/ Minecraft server).

No she should not be. It's the same like how a lot of people say, you should be a comedian. They should not be.
